Ronald McDonald House Charities develops and supports programmes that help children live happier, healthier lives. We do this by thoroughly researching and understanding the needs of children and families in New Zealand, as well as learning from the Ronald McDonald House Charities family around the world.
Our programmes are not here to meet short term problems. All of them take years to develop and will remain in New Zealand offering care and comfort to families for as long as families need us.
Our principle supporter McDonald’s is as passionate about helping children as we are, and their support means that all donations we receive can be used exclusively for our programme support and development.
The cornerstone project of the Charity in New Zealand is the three Ronald McDonald Houses, one in Auckland, one in Wellington and one in Christchurch. Each year these Houses care for thousands of families of children undergoing hospital treatment at either Auckland Starship Children's Hospital, Wellington Hospital or Christchurch Public Hospital.
Ronald McDonald House Charities: Incorporated under the Charitable Trusts Act 1957 - AK/450226.
Ronald McDonald Care Mobile
Poor dental health in small children is painful, debilitating, and creates many health and educational problems. It is also preventable. Our Care Mobile Programme is a state-of-the-art fully equipped mobile dental clinic that takes dental care to under served communities and families.
Ronald McDonald House
A home away from home for families who have seriously ill children in hospital and who have to be away from home for their child to receive specialist medical treatment. There are three Ronald McDonald Houses in New Zealand - Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
Ronald McDonald Family Room
A lounge for local families whilst their child is in Starship and Wellington Hospitals where exhausted parents can grab a shower, rest, have a meal and in Auckland stay the night, all while their child is just moments away.
Ronald McDonald House Charities Family Unit
Parent bedrooms within high dependency wards mean that families can stay very close to their sick child. At Kidz First in Auckland two bedrooms are inside the neonatal intensive care ward so parents of seriously ill newborns can always be close by.
Ronald McDonald Family Retreat
Providing one weeks free accommodation for immediate families of chronically ill children and/or for bereaved families.
Since the opening of the first Ronald McDonald House in Philadelphia in 1974, Ronald McDonald House Charities has grown, and now there are 284 Ronald McDonald Houses in 30 countries around the world.
Ronald McDonald House Charities in the USA and its global network of local charities now reach well beyond Ronald McDonald Houses. Collectively, the RMHC network has awarded more than $300 million in grants to children's programmes worldwide. All these programmes identify the problems children face and provide solutions for them.
